Impact Report 2020-2021: Supporting Sport to Build Back Better for Women & Girls

August 2021

Canadian Women & Sport is proud to present Supporting Sport to Build Back Better for Women & Girls, our Impact Report for 2020-2021.

2020 was a year that none one could have expected. Canadian Women & Sport acknowledges the profound impact COVID-19 has had on sport and society, an impact that will be felt for years to come. The fact is that COVID-19 impacted women and girls disproportionately, which will threaten the gender equity advancements achieved in recent years.

The good news is that we’ve collaborated with many organizations in the past year to keep attention on gender equity and to ensure that women and girls are not left behind when sport returns. We’re continuing our mission to creating equitable and inclusive Canadian sport and physical activity system that empowers all girls and women – within and through sport. In this report, we share the impact our programs have had on sport to realize this vision.

With the support of our partners, we’re continuing to develop new resources, programs, and tools to help organizations bring their gender equity vision to life. Learn more about our work through the COVID-19 pandemic, how we’ve adapted our programming, and what’s in store for us going forward. If you want to take actionable steps towards creating better gender equity in sport, take our Gender Equity LENS e-learning module or complete the Same Game online toolkit.
