Job Posting: Program Manager (Parental Leave Contract)

POSITION SUMMARY

Canadian Women & Sport is seeking a Program Manager for the duration of 20 months (December 2021 – July 2023) with the possibility of extension, to backfill a parental leave. This dynamic, high-impact position reports directly to the Director of Programs and works closely with staff, contractors, committees, and other external stakeholders.

The Program Manager will manage multi-year programs, working deeply with sport and physical activity organizations and leaders to build knowledge, shift attitudes and develop competencies for gender equity.

The ideal candidate has considerable program management experience including program development and implementation with extensive experience with facilitation and relationship management. They are competent in persuasive communication and can bring a strong intersectional gender lens, reflecting diversity, equity and inclusion in their work.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead the Same Game program: a signature program delivered to sport and physical activity organizations that includes supporting sport leaders along their journey through the Same Game online toolkit:

Development:

  • Lead the ongoing development of the program content by integrating an intersectional gender lens with the support of advisors and experts
  • With the support of the operations team, build out and manage the online platform, enhancing the accessibility and scalability of the program
  • Execute the measurement and evaluation plan and in collaboration with academic expertise, lead the development of reports that support mobilization of the learnings to the broader sector
  • Manage the program’s administration, ensuring effective documentation, risk management and related controls.

Execution:

  • Recruit, train and support external consultants to implement Same Game on behalf of the organization to augment Canadian Women & Sport’s delivery capacity.
  • With the support of the Marketing and Communications team, build and implement the Same Game recruitment strategy to secure participating organizations.
  • Ensure high standards of quality of all program components, particularly the one-on-one coaching.
  • Provide oversight and leadership in the management of the Community of Practice.
  • Track and manage sport organization participation and program impact to ensure targets are achieved.

Lead the Gender Equity in Coaching program: the Gender Equity in Coaching program leverages the Gender Equity in Coaching Framework and Self-Assessment tool to help sport organizations improve conditions for women in coaching by identifying the factors that can be changed organizations.

  • Refine program materials based on participant feedback.
  • With the support of the Marketing and Communications team, build and implement the Gender Equity in Coaching recruitment strategy to secure participating organizations.
  • Facilitate the Gender Equity in Coaching workshops and provide on-going support as required to organizations in their development and implementation of their Action Plans.
  • Track and manage sport organization participation and program impact to ensure targets are achieved.

Lead the execution of Gender Equity Consultations:

  • Define and provide customized support to organizations, including strategy and policy reviews, organizational assessments and action planning (The Playbook), and delivery of presentations at board/AGM meetings, etc, as required
  • Implement the Gender Equity Playbook directly with sport organizations (working directly with board members, senior leaders, and their key stakeholders), including on-boarding and orientation, facilitating gender equity assessments and action planning sessions, and final report writing.
  • Ensure high standards of quality of all program components, particularly the assessment reports produced for participating sport organizations.
  • Track and manage sport organization participation to ensure targets are achieved.

Manage Program Relationships:

  • Competently recruit and retain program stakeholders, including participating organizations, program partners, consultants, etc.
  • Work closely with staff, contractors, advisors and other stakeholders to generate measurable engagement and efficient program processes.
  • Track stakeholder engagement and advise on engagement opportunities and strategies.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience applying an intersectional gender equity lens, including specific understanding of anti-oppression and accessibility principles and their applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently design and deliver high quality, results-focused initiatives that meet organizational and funder expectations.
  • Proven ability to competently manage multiple multi-year programs simultaneously, including design, implementation and evaluation.
  • Proven ability to develop evidence-based resources and tools designed to influence behaviour for inclusion, reflecting strong research skills and versatile writing skills.
  • Skilled at stakeholder engagement, participatory approaches and relationship management.
  • Skilled at persuasive communication, including the ability to design and deliver interactive sessions to educate and engage, both virtually and in-person
  • Ability to manage others and achieve results through others, either as direct reports, consultants, or stakeholder and committee groups.
  • Experience working or volunteering in the Canadian sport and physical activity system is an asset.
  • Experience working with digital tools such as CRMs (Salesforce specifically), Microsoft Teams and SharePoint, Zoom, and Submittable or equivalents.
  • Bilingualism (French-English) is a strong asset.

Details:

  • This is a maternity leave coverage contract position with opportunity for flexible hours.
  • Salary range is $62,000-$70,000 plus comprehensive health benefits.
  • Most of the team is based in Toronto, but we will consider applicants located anywhere in Canada. In light of current restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this is currently a remote working position with possibility for permanent virtual or hybrid work environments in the future.
